Must-Have Decorating Accessories In Every Household

 Decorating is a very personal exercise. These accessories include items such as curtains, sofa sets, cushions, tablecloths, and decorative craft products.

These are commonly used in indoor furnishings and layouts and can include cloth items, paintings, and plants.

If you have been a homeowner or apartment dweller for any length of time, then you probably have those go-to accessories that make you feel at home. Depending on the preference of everyone, everybody wants something a little different to make their home feel like home.

Having these items in your home will ensure that no matter what the style it's always looks its best.

1) Window Treatments:

Empty windows are cold and impersonal. Put some of the window treatment, whether it is drapes, blinds, or shutters, on every single window in your home. There are tons of options to what you should select based on personal style, the style of the room, the shape of the window, and the amount of privacy you desire.

2) Paint Wall Colors Light and Neutral:

Stick to colors like beige or gray, especially on the first floor, where flow is important. You want to minimize jarring transitions. Neutral walls give you great decorating flexibility, allowing you to switch up your accessories.

And if you have two small rooms next to each other, painting them the same neutral color helps them feel large. Look at a paint strip and move up or down a shade or two for a subtle variation from room to room, suggests Allen-Brett.

3) Small Rugs & Mats:

One of the most overlooked but arguably essential home accessories is a rug. While most of us spend an inordinate amount of time looking for the perfect area rug for our living room or bedroom, I think small rugs and mats are as much a part of creating a well-styled space as any other accessory.

Whether it is a simple welcome mat at the front door, a small rug in a mudroom or entryway, or a stylish bath mat, these small textiles underfoot create an understated level of comfort that is often underutilized. It is this extra layer that adds dimension and visual interest essential to creating a welcoming space.

4) A Bench or Ottoman:

A bench or ottoman is a piece of furniture to have on hand if you ever need extra seating. They are versatile and can go in many different places as in an entryway, at the foot of a bed, as part of a living room furniture arrangement, in a dining room, or even in a hall. To get the most out of an ottoman or bench consider one with hidden storage—particularly in an entryway where you can store bags, hats, shoes, and the like.

5) Hang at Least One Mirror in Every Room:

Mirrors can make space feel brighter because they bounce the light around the room, says Breining. But placing one in the wrong spot can be almost as bad as not having one at all.

Put mirrors on walls perpendicular to windows, not directly across from them. Hanging a mirror opposite a window can bounce the light right back out the window.

6) A Personal touch:

The living room is the center of your home, and no two homes are the same. The term personal art means something unique to you. It could be photos framed and hung on the wall, something made by you or a loved one, a wall-hanging, or something else personal and meaningful. The idea is that something you will find in anyone else's home.
